Sunset Park Pickleball, Las Vegas Open Play
In 2021 we were very lucky to have the city of las Vegas put in this incredible facility 100% dedicated to Pickleball.
It’s open to public play 95% of the time, the only time it’s not is when there are big tournaments on which you can check on https://excelpickleball.com/tournaments/.
You’ll find players of all levels here, on the map to the right if you want more competitive play you’ll find the best players on the courts marked with the x most mornings, you don’t need a partner and can put your paddle up on the designated stands next to the court you want to challenge. Most of these players are 4.5 and above so make sure you’re at that level if you’re challenging to help keep it competitive.
All the other courts are open play, if you’re looking for a game walk around and try and find a group where you feel is at your level and simply ask if it’s ok to play next, most people will let you play and you can just place your paddle down on the ground about 5-6ft out from the net pole while you wait.
COST:
No cost to play, these are public courts. Be sure to check on https://excelpickleball.com/tournaments/ fist that there aren’t any tournaments going on.
TRAVEL:
From the strip, you’re only about 15 mins away and an uber or lyft will only cost you around $15 - $20 depending on which end of the strip you’re staying at. The courts are closest to the South (Mandalay Bay, Luxor, MGM) and further away from the Wynn, Downtown etc)
SUMMER PLAY (May - Oct)
In summer you’ll find most the play is from 7am to 11am and then again in the evening from around 7pm to 11pm. This is just due to the super hot temps.
WINTER PLAY (Nov - April)
In winter you’ll find most of the play is from 8am to 12’Noon as it’s just too cold and dark before that.
Evenings generally start around 6pm - 10pm.
Exceptions: When the weather is really nice you’ll find all these time get expanded and people will come earlier and stay later.
